Few materials carry the heritage and reliability of oak. Strong, full of character, and built to age beautifully, our oak beds are handcrafted from 100% solid lumber using traditional joinery, allowing each frame to remain strong for decades while developing a richer patina over time.

Oak reinforced beds – Heavy-duty solid oak bed frames with strengthened rails and enhanced supports for added durability and stability.
Oak space-saver beds – Slimline oak bed frames designed with reduced external dimensions, ideal for tighter bedrooms and alcoves.
Naturally hard‑wearing – Solid oak is dense, durable, and resistant to everyday knocks. Its natural resistance to fungal decay and insect attack makes it one of the most reliable hardwoods available for long-term furniture that won't degrade or weaken over time.
Slow-grown oak for added stability – We carefully source our oak from colder regions of North America, where slower growth creates a tighter, more consistent grain. The result is a solid oak bed frame that is more stable and less prone to warping over time.
Built to age beautifully – Oak has been trusted in homes for centuries for good reason, as a well-built solid oak bed frame can easily last between 60 and 100 years. It doesn’t just last—its rich patina and character develop over time.
Mortise and tenon joinery – Oak's natural density pairs perfectly with traditional mortise and tenon joints, creating frames that tighten over time rather than loosening, ensuring your bed stays solid and silent for decades.
Well-suited to homes – Oak bedroom furniture handles the moisture and seasonal temperature changes often found in older properties, making it an ideal choice for historic homes and traditional architecture.
Use felt pads on hard floors – Solid oak bed frames weigh about twice as much as a solid pine alternative, which adds more stability. We recommend placing protective pads under oak beds in particular to help prevent this additional weight from marking wooden or tiled floors.
Expect it to naturally darken over time – Oak develops a deeper, warmer tone as it’s exposed to light. This is completely normal and part of the character that makes a solid oak bed age beautifully.
Avoid placing near direct heat sources - Try to keep your solid oak bed frame at least 12 inches away from radiators, underfloor heating vents, or fireplaces. Prolonged exposure to direct heat can dry out the lumber and cause minor cracking over time.
Lift with two people – Oak is dense and weighty. If you move your bed, always lift with two people to avoid strain on the joints and to protect both the frame and your flooring. Dragging it can also damage your flooring.
Clean with a dry cloth monthly – Oak is low-maintenance, but regular dusting prevents build-up. Avoid spray polishes or excessive moisture—a soft, dry cloth is all you need to keep the grain looking rich.

Solid oak is cut from a single piece of lumber and maintains its strength, grain, and appearance throughout the full depth of the wood. Oak veneer uses a thin layer of real oak bonded to cheaper composite materials like MDF or chipboard, which can chip, peel, or delaminate over time. All our oak bed frames are made from 100% solid oak—no veneers, no composites.
Not necessarily; our solid oak bed frames are made to fit standard US mattress dimensions. As long as your current mattress is supportive, comfortable, and free from sagging, it will perform optimally on our bases.
An oak bed frame can support up to over 1,000 pounds (471 kg). This capacity is due to extra-thick solid oak slats (which are double the industry standard) and its handcrafted construction, which provide significantly more strength than standard mass-market alternatives.
It depends on your room's natural light. Light oak finishes work best in darker or north-facing bedrooms, where they reflect light and keep the space feeling open. Dark oak finishes show their depth and richness in well-lit rooms, where the grain and tone can be fully appreciated. Both age beautifully over time.
